Second Math 1
Second Math 1 is taught by Lisa Jasumback. At the beginning of the year we started out learning about this table that would help us transform a graph to a table, a table to a rule, a rule to a pattern, a pattern to a graph, and every other combination in between. We worked with this until we were able to solve equations perfectly. After that we began to work with quadratics.
Story Time
In the first quarter of Secondary Math 1 we had a team test, a test that assessed our ability to work with other people. For the problem that we were given we had to write a story on the given information: Line A started at (0, 43) and Line B's origin was (0,-2) and had a positive growth. My team and I came up with a story that fit the graph .
"At James High School, a 9th grade class was having a fundraiser to raise money for their class field trip. Samantha decided to do a lemonade stand. Her mom gave her $43 dollars to start with and she bought lemons that cost $6.00. She thought she would get more lemonade out of the lemons, so she charged $2.00 per glass. Jessica, instead of buying lemons from the store, she bough ta lemon plant for $2.00. She decided to charge $6.00 per serving. For every customer she had a $6.00 increase, while Samantha lost $4.00. Eventually they had the same amount of money."
At the end of the class period we hung up the posters that we had made. We went around to each poster in the room and analyzed their problem.
